So I'm still trying to do better with blogging... it's just hard. We have been so busy lately...
I'm also still working on getting my blog designed the way I want it. I tried a few different things and am still trying to decide. Anyhoo- Jay had his surgery last week. It went really well and his foot is healing nicely. He's been off work for a week and tonight is his first night back so I'm missing him tonight! He gets his stitches out next week and the doctor has already informed us that they got everything... ***whew*** Insurance didn't cover much of the first procedure so I'm a little worried about the bill for the BIG procedure. But we'll make it... somehow.
I had a really sad day yesterday. We had a customer come in and give us some bad news. Working with people on a regular basis really makes you feel like you know them and are a part of their "family". The man is in his late 60's and is one of the sweetest, most genuine good people I know. He informed us that his 37 year old son had recently had some problems and ended up needing a colonoscopy. Half way through the that, they stopped and informed him they couldn't go any further because they ran into a tumor. So he then went for more testing and, long story short, they found cancer in his liver. Stage 4. Bad. So he has been to Duke and Baptist and has been told they are going to start chemo and target his liver so that they can reduce the cancer enough for him to get on a donor list. The cancer is too bad right now for transplant to be possible. So he starts intense chemo next week and they are praying for a miracle. The doctors gave him a 5% chance and a 5 year life span. So sad. He is married with three young children. His father broke down while telling us and it just tore me up. I hate to see anyone hurting, but especially someone like him. Someone that would do anything for anyone and never asks for anything in return. Someone who deserves nothing but the best in life. It's just so sad. And not fair.
So please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. They are going to need it.
