For those who care to know...
Katherine tagged me in this list of questions about myself so I figured, what the heck. Here goes nothing!
1. What would you do on a perfect day? (No monetary restrictions … just imagine away.)
I would wake up and my hubby and I would board a private jet and fly to the Bahamas for the day. We would spend the day relaxing on a secluded beach and enjoy meals and drinks brought to us by private servers, all made by private chefs. We would fly home early in the evening to have dinner and snuggle up on the couch to watch our favorite TV shows.
2. Have you ever stayed up for 24+ straight hours? Why?
Yes- I attended numerous church / school lock-ins at the local YMCA when I was in middle school and high school. I can’t remember a time recently when I did... I have been up numerous times in one night before with a sick dog or hubby or from being sick myself, but no all-nighters. I’m not very pleasant if I don’t get my sleep. Consider yourself warned.
3. Have you ever laughed so hard your stomach muscles and face hurt? What made you laugh that hard?
Absolutely! Most meals with my family all around the dinner table end up in some sort of laughing fits. Usually when everyone has gorged themselves on food so it doesn’t take much for our stomachs to hurt. Most recently was on my birthday. We had dinner at my grandma’s and then I opened my gifts. My dad and step mom bought me a cute basket / turkey, but unfortunately Mr. Turkey was damaged in shipping or something. His head was all mashed up and there was no way I was going to be able to use it. My brother then proceeded to try to bend it back to shape but couldn’t. Someone made a comment about it being “Made in China” and that was all the blame. For some reason my brother made the snarky comment that “some Japanese kid” who had made it was probably to blame and my step mom said yeah... “Some Japanese kid living in CHINA”. It was made in China. He should have said Chinese kid... you had to be there. It was HILARIOUS! We all DIED! My dad had to get up and leave the room! We were all crying and laughing hysterically for a while and now every time someone mentions the turkey basket, we all explode in laughter over the “Japanese kid living in China”.
4. What is the earliest time in your life you can remember?
Probably age 7 or 8. I remember whenever I was sick and had to stay home from school I would always get to go to my grandparents house. I can still VIVIDLY remember the smell as soon as you walked into their house early in the morning. It was a fresh brewed coffee / fresh fabric softener dryer sheet kind of smell. I also remember riding bikes at our house and building human sized birds nest in the field in front of our house when they would cut the hay. That probably makes you think I grew up in the country, but I promise I’m not a farm kid.
5. Two parts of you are dueling. What parts? Who wins?
It would probably be my nice, compassionate self versus my sarcastic, snarky self. In most instances, the nice part wins. But sometimes I can’t hold in my sarcasm. It just comes out. I can’t help it.
6. Do you give inanimate objects names? Anything specific?
My husband and I both call our cars Betsy. But from the sounds of Katherine’s answer- that’s a pretty common car name. A girl I went to high school with named her, ahem, “girlfriends” Fred and Wilma. She was pretty funny. I can still remember her talking about them getting in her way (she was fairly well endowed).
7. How restricted do you feel when blogging because you don’t want to upset someone (a specific person or group of people)? Do you really comb your posts for things that will offend or do you let it all hang out?
I don’t post that often in my blog... my life is pretty boring. Occasionally on Facebook, I’ll post something that may upset some people, but I pretty opinionated and don’t think people should judge other people because of their own personal opinions. Let's agree to disagree.
8. What do you like to read about most on other people’s blogs?
I enjoy hearing about other people’s kids and pets. Especially if they do something funny or say something funny. I also enjoy hearing where other people shop for certain things or if they have an encounter with someone or something that is funny. I also enjoy reading about Jonah (I went to high school with his mommy and daddy), Tripp, and all the EB babies. They inspire me to be a better person and be incredibly thankful for everything in life. I also LOVE the pictures on this blog. So mostly kids and photography... I just enjoy reading about other people’s lives and what they go through day to day. It’s nice to know that somewhere, someone is going through something similar to you.

End of Summer
We had an "End of Summer" cookout with our neighbors on Labor Day. We grilled kabobs and then sat by the fire (we got a fire pit! YAY!!!). Enjoy!!

Blue Ridge Parkway
We took a short drive up to the Parkway last night... I needed to just get away for a little bit and enjoy my family. We loaded up the dogs and off we went. We missed the sunset because of some clouds but that's ok because it was still beautiful. Here are a few pics...

Prayer
My heart is breaking for the Potvin family... I do not know these people personally but have come to "know" them and their story over the internet. Sweet Ellie (their daughter) fought cancer and has unfortunately lost the battle today. No parent should ever have to watch their child die or comfort their child when they say "I do not want to die mommy". I just cannot imagine. Please leave them a kind word of support @ Ellie Potvin.

Cruise to The Bahamas- May 2010
We recently returned from our cruise to the Bahamas. To do a true "post" about it would be too long so here are just a few of the more important happenings...
Poogan's Porch (Charleston, SC)... had a ghost encounter. Place is 3rd most haunted place in USA and very active. Dining table came 1-2 inches off of ground, slammed back to the floor, shook the silverware, and table cloth blew in the non-existent wind. Scary! Stayed in the "round hotel"- Holiday Inn Riverview. Rained the whole time we were in Charleston... Boarded the boat. One of the first on board. Amazing. Saw a dolphin and some rays while we were waiting to sail out. First two days at sea. Lots of relaxing. Hairy chest contest. Ice carving by the pool. Met two other couples at dinner. Third day spent in Freeport, Bahamas. Went to the Straw Market. Rode a catamaran. Snorkeled in the rain. Fourth Day spent in Nassau, Bahamas. Spent the day at the Atlantis. AMAZING. Loved all of the water slides, pool, and beach. Especially loved the "Rapids" lazy river. Spent probably 4 hours in it. Walked around shops close to port. Didn't buy much. Saw two girls miss their boat. Felt sorry for them. For a minute. Last day spent at sea... got lots of sun- very tan! Throughout the trip...Greeted by towel animals every night on our bed after dinner. LOVED them! Played lots of bingo. Our waiters at dinner were Arie and Ruel. We had one formal night and I was reminded how hot my husband is in a suit (and always!). Our room number was U117. Jason got to go on stage and be the juggler's assistant. Got to see lots of pretty sunsets. The boat had a 24/7 pizzeria and soft serve ice cream machine. "Ca-Caw!" "Raise the ceiling"... "Hot Dog"... "no ketchup- too much sugar". "Hey, that guy looks like the villain off of The Incredibles"! Danced the night away at the disco- Brought back memories of our first few months together. Fell in love with my husband even more than ever. Ready to go again!

Update on the 'maters
Finally got my tomatoes moved into their hangning basket... their coming right along. The grape tomatoes are in the top and the regular tomatoes are coming out of the bottom... I'll be sure to post pics once they're blooming!

I've got a green thumb....
So I'm trying to grow some tomatoes. Not just grow them... GROW them. From seeds. Yes. That's right. I planted them a little over a week ago (and forgot to take pictures of that process, dang it!). Here are a few pictures of them so far... they've sprouted!!! Yay!!! Stay tuned- more updates and pictures to come! Once they're established, I'm going to try the upside down planting trick.
The big bowl is regular tomatoes... the cups are the grape tomatoes (they've sprouted!!)...
